Preparations for World Book Day 2016

The Sweetpeas have decided that for this year they want to go as Dangermouse and Penfold.

We have created some white ears for Dangermouse using a headband covered with a white ribbon.I then made some ears using some craft foam. This was after a failed attempt at using paper and far too much glue!

I managed to source a DM logo on eBay which I ironed onto a white long sleeved T-shirt. A few accessories like the eye patch, a red belt and white gloves should make her look somewhat like Dangermouse.

World Book Day

I made Chunky a speech bubble for him to hold with some classic Penfold quotes on it.

He will wear a blue suit and I have ordered a yellow and black stripey tie. He then has the classic round glasses to wear which should complete the look.

I look forward to sharing with you all the finished result next week!

Daily Date of Birth Lottery

This is another lottery that I check daily to see if I have won. The pot currently stands at £100 a day with this being rolled over if it isn't claimed. If it gets to £1000, then a charity receives the cash and the whole thing starts again. The prize is due to increase to £125 a day when a few more people receive the daily e-mail and visit the site.

There is a referral draw every month where one person will win £50. If you would like to register for FREE, please consider using my link and then that will give me another entry.

All you need to enter is your birthday and e-mail address. A handy tip is to go to the site and then bookmark it onto your homepage on your phone. I can quickly check all sites within a few minutes.

FREE Number Plate Lotto

I do love the daily FREE lottos that are about as you just check to see if you have won and then claim the money.

This one is perfect for me as I love cars. I had these number plates made up over a decade ago now for when I used to go to car shows and they've had pride of place on my wall ever since.

Number Plate Lotto uses, funnily enough, your number plate as a way of identifying the winner for the day. If you have multiple number plates then you can enter more than once but you will need a different e-mail address for each one.

Now you may be thinking, well I won't win! There are millions of number plates in existence. Here's the key point though. Only people that register are put into the draw AND they have to click claim if their number plate is chosen.

There is a daily prize of £10 which then rolls over if it's not claimed. At the time of writing this, the jackpot has got to £40 so one winner is going to get a very good win.

So what are you waiting for? If you are over 18, have an e-mail address and most importantly have a number plate, get yourself registered!

You may notice those numbers after the link. That is my referral link as they also offer 5p into your account for every person that registers through your individual link. This can be cashed out a £5 (so that's 100 referrals).

They have also started a monthly referral draw where 2 random people that have referred someone will win £25 each. Not bad at all hey?

Day 2 in the Elfy house

Chunky was the first to wake and then he rushed into my room and whispered that "Elfy is having a snowball fight in the bathroom. There is cotton wool everywhere!"

Children In Need 2015

The theme for this year at their school was "weird Pudsey".

They both went in dressed as the 118118 men complete with Pudsey ears.

Amazing how different they look with a wig and moustache. Harvey particularly liked his moustache and kept stroking it.

Sorry letter

Harvey hadn't done anything particularly bad today but he obviously felt that he needed to say sorry or his actions this week. He wrote a letter by himself and then came to say he was sorry for being "nortee".

Overalls

Harvey wasn't keen at all on his new-to-him overalls. He detested them in fact. I had to think of a way of him to wear them and I remembered what I had done when he didn't want to wear braces to keep his trousers up. Good old-fashioned bribery. I called on my Facebook friends to 'like' his picture of him wearing them and for every 'like' he would receive 50pence. The money would stop the moment that he took them off.

We discussed how to work out the money as his photos instantly started to gain 'likes'.

Harvey was adamant that he should now keep his overalls on and he enjoyed asking for an update on the 'likes'. It started to become harder at translating 'likes' into cold hard cash but he did it.

Alyssa realised this could be a great money-making exercise and requested that her photograph also appeared. My friends were very quick to join in trying to make me even poorer as she promptly gathered her 'likes'.

I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with them messing about in the mud and playing lots of games both inside and out.

By mid-afternoon, it was obvious to us all that wearing overalls can be exhausting. A nap was required but the overalls stayed on.

Alyssa was happy wearing hers and carried on with her task of feeding some kittens that had recently lost their mums. The concentration and love she shows is immense.

This one is "Bailey". Happily enjoying the attention from Alyssa.

Harvey eventually woke up and realised that it would soon be bedtime and then the JCB overalls would have to come off to be replaced by his pyjamas. He was one unhappy boy I can tell you!

I managed to eventually persuade him to take them off after his final update of 153 'likes' on Facebook. This meant that he had a whopping £76.50 to either spend or save.

I would like to thank all my friends for participating in helping him to keep them on for the day. He now realises that they aren't uncomfortable to wear and that they save his clothes from getting completely muddy and ruined. He is most impressed with the amount of money raised too and plans to buy a remote control JCB. Alyssa has other ideas.

"I'm going to keep it in my bank account." ~ Alyssa

Cookie Monster Cupcakes

I needed something that was going to be easy to make but would also be slightly different on the table when we hold our Macmillan Coffee Day next week.

My friend suggested these Cookie Monster Cupcakes.

They were very easy to make with just a usual sponge cake then iced with blue buttercream. 2 Milky Way buttons for eyes and half a cookie stuck into the mouth.

I look forward to hearing what The Sweetpeas say about them when they are home from school.

The Selfie Lottery

I joined the The Selfie Lottery in June and I'm very pleased to say that I have won this week. An awesome £85.50 ! My friend's picture had come up that day and, as I had referred her to the site, I also won too.

All you need to do is upload a selfie and then check back daily to see if your picture has been picked to win that day. You then need to press the claim button to collect your winnings. It is paid out via BACS, PayPal, Amazon or you can donate to charity. (I collected mine by PayPal and fees were taking by Paypal so I would suggest doing a different method if you can. It was in my PayPal within a few hours though which is fantastic.)

Even if it's not you, The Selfie Lottery adds on 50p into your loyalty bonus.

Think of it as an ongoing lottery ticket which is totally free.

I'd love you to sign up using my referral link >>>   The Selfie Lottery as it will not take anything away from your winnings but it does give me an extra chance of winning too. Thank you and GOOD LUCK.
